FAMAS is a submachine gun that isn’t exactly one of Counter Strike’s most popular weapons. Whether it is CS2 or CS:GO, for some reason, it tends to be overlooked. In fact, its official description states that it is “a cheap option for cash-strapped players…” and that it “…effectively fills the niche between more expensive rifles and the less-effective SMGs.” Which is actually very true. To give some context, the FAMAS is actually a French-made weapon, and its name is an acronym for Fusil d’Assaut de la Manufacture d’Armes de Saint-Étienne. Its original manufacturer was a company from Saint-Étienn, called MAS (yeah, we know, it all makes a lot of sense), which over the years has been a prolific weapon producer for the French army. As for the Global Offensive version, it was specifically modeled after the FAMAS G1 model.

In the game, the FAMAS is a submachine gun available only to Counter-Terrorists. As we mentioned, most players know it as the cheapest assault rifle in the game, but it also offers several benefits in addition to that. First, it provides a burst firing mode and is one of two weapons that do so. Secondly, it can be used to boost other players and thus elevate them to usually hard-to-reach places on the map. Unfortunately, at the same time, it offers a rather small magazine and a long reload time of about 3 seconds. As for the fire rate, it is 666 RPM in auto mode and 800 RPM in burst fire mode.

The CaliCamo FAMAS skin offers a fun twist on the traditional military print.
