How to Surf in CS:GO?

CSGO has allowed a variety of game modes to exist in the game since its debut. Surf servers are not officially supported by Valve. They are unoffical servers that are completely opened by players.

What is CSGO Surf?

As we explained in the first part of our article, your purpose in surf servers is just like surfing in real life. All you have to do is try to reach the end of the map by overcoming some simple and difficult obstacles and enter the ranking. If you want to get a good grade in Surf modes, you need to memorize the map you play and set a strategy for yourself to move very fast.

Also, you should not forget that CSGO has hundreds of different surf maps. However, the CSGO community likes to spend time on maps that are fun to play and also really hard to play. Therefore, it is extremely important to choose a map. Another point, as you can understand, maps differ according to difficulty levels. Most professional players prefer the most difficult surf maps to test themselves at this point.

Now let’s answer the question of what is CSGO Surf in a simple way. When you enter any surf server from the community servers, you will see triangle-shaped ramps in the game. Then you can jump on the ramp and gain acceleration on the sides or in the middle, and you can accelerate even more by gliding, surfing. You have to be careful while doing this. Because the sides of the triangular ramps fall into the void, you must get your acceleration quickly and you must accurately determine the position at the last jumping point of the ramp. Otherwise, you may experience problems while transitioning to other ramps.

Why Do I Keep Falling While Surfing?

Now we may need to give a little more detailed information. The point at which you start surfing is very important. Because at first you have to do your jump well to reach your maximum speed. After jumping on the ramp, you have to maintain or increase the speed you have gained until the end of the game. In order to do this, we will share with you a few tactics.

• First of all, our first tactic is to jump as parallel to the ramp as possible and from the highest. Since you will descend from the top of the ramp to the bottom by accelerating, always make your jump from the top. Another important point is bunny hopping, as we mentioned above. Try to accelerate well with the bunny before jumping on the ramp.
• A slight knowledge of physics may be required after jumping onto the ramp. The first condition for accelerating on maps is to succumb to gravity. Because gravity gives you acceleration and you gain speed with acceleration. Even though I wrote it simply, it may take some getting used to. Therefore, you can get an idea by looking at the image below.
• You have to jump to the top of the ramp, which we have shown with number 1, because this point will increase your main speed. Then you should keep your speed constant by gliding slightly up to the 2nd point. The last phase is zone 3, where your speed slows down and you prepare for the jump. Here you have to rise to the highest point because you will glide down to the 1st area of the other ramp.
• We would also like to share a footnote here. Since your speed will slow down at the 3rd point, you will regain the speed you lost while falling on the other ramp, so don’t be in a hurry, be careful to land on the ramp safely.

What is Ramp Strafing?

Ramp Strafe is one of the important tactics you should know when you start playing on tier 3 and higher surf maps when you start to improve yourself. Because maps with high tier level have 3-stage ramps. And the tactics you’ve learned won’t work on such ramps. You can understand the importance of ramp strafing in the picture below.

If Ramp Strafe is so important, how can you do it?

In areas where there is more than one ramp, you have to stagger, so to speak. In other words, when you jump off the first ramp, you should come to the middle of the ramp, not the end. You should glide very little, jumping to the second ramp from the middle of the first ramp. Then you have to jump from the second ramp to the third ramp right in the middle.

If you cannot jump successfully from the middle part at the end of the ramps, you will slow down by hitting the section that separates the ramps. Since this will slow down your speed, you will return to the beginning of the game.

How to Login to Surf Servers?

The first thing you need to do is to find and join a server from the server browser, which is the simplest way to start Surfing in CSGO. At this point, surf servers are divided into two. First of all, you usually compete with time on surf servers. The person who manages to reach the end of the map in the shortest time is selected first. The other is the servers where it is used in weapons and has various difficulties.

• Click Play CSGO on the home page. And click on the Official Matchmaking section and open the options.
• Click on “Community Server Browser” in the drop down menu.
• You will see a list of all the servers you are used to seeing from CS 1.6.
• Here, you can log in to one of the dozens of servers by typing “Surf” in the search section.
• You can also find surf maps by searching. After logging in to the server, it automatically starts downloading the files on the server, this process may take a few minutes.

Important Note: Surf maps consist of serious difficulty levels from tier 1 to tier 6. Tier 1 is the easiest starting stage, as you can see. In general, we recommend this type of maps to players who are starting to play for the first time. As you improve yourself, you can switch to maps with high tier levels.

Do I Get Banned For Playing On CSGO Surf Server?

When you log into some Community servers, you may have seen that it downloads tens of MB files. This is a common situation with surf servers. After logging into such a server, you may encounter a warning screen when you return to play ranked. You can see the text “Third Pary Files Loaded” on this warning screen.

But you don’t need to be afraid. This warning is a method developed by Valve to protect official servers. Game files you download from other community servers usually change the cosmetics or the UI. The reason for this is because surfing is usually done with a knife, players want to see expensive and cool CS GO knife skins in their hands. Therefore, you will encounter such an error.

As we said at first, you don’t have to be afraid. If you haven’t used cheats or any other third-party apps, you won’t be banned for surfing.

How to Play Surf with Workshop Maps in CSGO?

The first thing you will do is enter the CSGO Steam Workshop. You can do this from within the game or from the Steam interface.

The picture above is the part that can be done in CSGO. The second image is of the Steam Workshop interface. In this section, go to the search field and type “surf” and select the most popular option and start downloading the maps by finding them according to their difficulty level. Difficulty levels are usually in the description or name of the map.

As a last step, launch CSGO and click Play, and this will show as “OFFICAL MATCHMAKING“. Click on this and in the menu that appears, click on the text “Workshop Maps“. All the maps you downloaded will appear. Choose the one you want and log into the game.
