Operations are among some of the biggest updates added regularly to Counter Strike: Global Offensive. While many of the smaller updates regularly introduce new skins to the game together with some minor technical tweaks, operations introduce a huge number of other features, such as operation passes, new maps, new player models and even entire game modes, available for the duration of the operation.

A new operation is always a big deal, and the CS:GO community is always on the lookout for the next operation. Currently, there are no operations in the game, however, many players are asking themselves the same question: Will Valve release a new operation in 2023?

What Do We Know About The Next Operation?

At the moment, Valve hasn’t confirmed anything regarding the next operation to be introduced to the game. However, even though we don’t know the exact release date of new operations, we can definitely expect a new operation this year. Valve regularly adds new content to the game, and so far we haven’t seen any major updates this year.

One thing everyone should keep in mind when thinking about the next operation, is the potential release of Counter Strike 2. While players can already access some of the features of the new CS:GO version, Valve stated that they intend the full release in the summer of this year. This means that currently all of the company’s resources are dedicated to delivering the best possible experience in the new incarnation of CS:GO.

While this means that Valve is probably not working on another CSGO operation and the moment, there will still be almost half of the year left after the release of CS2. This means that we can expect the next operation to be released for the new version of CS:GO. This can only mean more missions, more community-created maps, and most likely a new operation pass.

What Are The Previous Operations Release Dates?

Although we don’t know when exactly will the new operation be released for CS:GO, big updates of this type are released somewhat regularly, with around eight-month break between each. Although this doesn’t allow anyone to predict the exact date of the next operation release dates, looking at when the last operation was released can give us a rough idea of when can we exact something new for CS:GO. So far, all of the release dates for various operations in CS:GO were:

  • Operation Riptide – September 21, 2021
  • Operation Broken Fang – December 3, 2020
  • Operation Shattered Web – November 18, 2019

As you can see, there were many different operations added to the game over the span of ten years. The last operation was released in 2021, which means that there it has been almost two years since the previous operation released. Although Valve has spent the last couple of years working on CS2, players can be fairly confident that after the release of the new version of Counter-Strike there will be a new operation coming at a later date, most likely with a new battle pass and its own set of unique features.
