The Most Expensive M4A4 Skins in CS2 (2026)

This list orders the most expensive M4A4 skins in CS2 by the highest price of each skin on SkinsMonkey at the time of writing (November 4, 2026). Out of the 52 finishes in all M4A4 skins on SkinsMonkey, the M4A4 | Howl costs the most, at $9,780.17 in Factory New, and ten skins cost more than $250 in their best wear. We also cover StatTrak and Souvenir copies, which cost up to almost four times the normal price on some skins, and the wears where the price jumps the most.

The Howl is far ahead of every other M4A4. It is the only weapon skin with Contraband rarity, and even its cheapest wear costs more than three times the second most expensive M4A4. Below the Howl, rarity decides less than you would expect: a Mil-Spec Radiation Hazard costs more in Factory New than a Covert Asiimov in its best wear, and the fourth most expensive M4A4 is a Restricted skin. Below we go through the list in price groups and explain what makes each skin expensive.

How We Ranked the Most Expensive M4A4 Skins

The ranking uses the highest price of each M4A4 skin on SkinsMonkey for a normal copy, which for 51 of the 52 skins is the Factory New price. The exception is the Asiimov, which has no Factory New or Minimal Wear copy, so its best wear is Field-Tested. Prices were checked on November 4, 2026 and change with the market. StatTrak and Souvenir copies are priced separately, and they have their own section below. Several skins near the top had only a few listings that day, so for them the price on the item page is a reference price, and we say where that matters.

The M4A4 is the full-auto CT side rifle with a 30-round magazine, and it costs $2,900 in a buy round. It has been in the game since CS:GO came out in 2012. Of its 52 finishes on SkinsMonkey, 27 drop from a weapon case or a terminal, eight come from map collections in Souvenir or collection packages, and 17 belong to collections for which SkinsMonkey lists no case or package. Five of the six most expensive M4A4 skins, the Howl among them, are in that last group.

M4A4 | Howl: Over $6,000 Even in Field-Tested

The Howl came out on May 1, 2014 as the Covert M4A4 of the Huntsman Weapon Case. Within six weeks it turned out that the wolf had been copied from another artist’s work. Valve replaced the design with a new wolf, took the skin out of the case and gave it a new rarity, Contraband. Copies that players already owned stayed in the game, but no new Howl can drop, and a trade-up contract cannot produce one.

1. May 1, 2014 Howl added to the Huntsman Weapon Case as a Covert.
2. Jun 8, 2014 The original artist says the design was copied.
3. Jun 11, 2014 New artwork, Contraband rarity, removed from the case.

The Covert that took the Howl’s place in the case on June 11, 2014 is the M4A4 | Desert-Strike, a tan and black high-tech design. It shows how much of the Howl price comes from its history: the Desert-Strike costs $79.28 in Factory New, while a StatTrak Factory New Howl costs $19,973.85 on its item page.

$780 to $1,900: Poseidon, The Coalition and Skins With No Case

The next five skins all come from collections, not from a weapon case. For four of them, the Poseidon, The Coalition, the Modern Hunter and the Daybreak, SkinsMonkey lists no case or package at all. The Eye of Horus is in the Anubis Collection Package and in the Anubis Souvenir packages. Few copies of these skins are listed for trade, which keeps the prices high.

• M4A4 | The Coalition, $1,277.22 in Factory New and $137.13 in Battle-Scarred, from the 2021 Train Collection. Gold and black with interlocking triangles and blue highlights. It is the most expensive Covert M4A4, and Factory New costs more than two and a half times Minimal Wear at $494.18.
• M4A4 | Modern Hunter, $916.04 in Factory New, from the Militia Collection. A photographic hunting camo, Restricted. Minimal Wear costs $239.31 and Field-Tested $75.52, so Factory New costs more than 12 times Field-Tested.
• M4A4 | Eye of Horus, $823.51 in Factory New and $183.69 in Battle-Scarred. A Covert with a white base, gold accents and the falcon god Horus, from the Anubis Collection. Because the base is white, wear shows more on it than on darker skins.
• M4A4 | Daybreak, $781.39 in Factory New, from the Rising Sun Collection. A sunrise in metallic paints. Minimal Wear costs almost the same at $780.62, and even Battle-Scarred costs $625.21. SkinsMonkey had three listings, and Well-Worn had no price on SkinsMonkey.

$230 to $570: Buzz Kill, Hellfire and the Asiimov

From here the list is mostly case skins. They cost less than the collection skins above because cases still drop them, but their best wears still cost a few hundred dollars. One exception is the Radiation Hazard, a Mil-Spec skin that SkinsMonkey only lists in Nuke Souvenir packages.

• M4A4 | Hellfire, $417.26 in Factory New and $100.76 in Battle-Scarred, a Classified from the Operation Hydra Case. A devil-like creature among fire and chains. Minimal Wear costs $195.82, less than half of Factory New.
• M4A4 | Radiation Hazard, $397.47 in Factory New, from the Nuke Collection. Radiation warning patterns, Mil-Spec. Field-Tested costs $43.10, so Factory New costs more than nine times as much. SkinsMonkey had five listings.
• M4A4 | The Emperor, $259.72 in Factory New, a Covert from the Prisma Case inspired by the Emperor tarot card. Field-Tested costs $71.50, and Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred cost almost the same.
• M4A4 | Asiimov, $235.78 in Field-Tested, a Covert from the Winter Offensive Weapon Case. The float range starts at 0.18, so Field-Tested is the best wear that exists. Battle-Scarred costs $113.90, and a StatTrak Field-Tested copy $704.26.

StatTrak and Souvenir M4A4 Skins: Up to Four Times the Price

A StatTrak counter or a Souvenir tag changes the price more than most wears do. On SkinsMonkey 29 M4A4 skins have StatTrak versions, almost all of them from cases and terminals, the Howl included. On the expensive ones, a StatTrak Factory New copy costs about twice the normal one. The Emperor costs $510.85 in StatTrak Factory New against $259.72, and the Royal Paladin $459.86 against $211.05. Our list of the best StatTrak skins covers other weapons.

Souvenir M4A4 skins only come from Souvenir packages of Majors. Eight M4A4 skins are in those packages, all from map collections such as Nuke, Inferno, Train and Anubis. The SkinsMonkey item pages also show Souvenir prices for some case skins and for the Howl, but it lists no Souvenir package for any of them, so we leave those prices out.

Which Expensive M4A4 Skins Look Best in Game

The M4A4 takes up a large part of the screen in first person, so a big picture on the side of the rifle shows in every round. Skins with one large image or strong colours are easy to see in a match, and camo patterns are harder to see. This is our order for the expensive M4A4 skins, from the one you notice most to the one you notice least.

Does Wear Matter on Expensive M4A4 Skins

It matters most on skins with a float range from 0.06 to 0.80. On those skins Factory New only covers floats from 0.06 to 0.07, so very few Factory New copies exist. That is why a Factory New Modern Hunter costs $916.04 and a Field-Tested one $75.52, and why a Factory New Urban DDPAT costs more than 300 times its Field-Tested copy. On skins like the Daybreak or the Poseidon, the lower wears cost almost the same as the best one.

If you want one of these skins for how it looks, Minimal Wear or Field-Tested gives you almost the same rifle for a part of the Factory New price. Our list of the best M4A4 skins names the wear we would buy for each skin, the cheapest M4A4 skins start at ten cents, and our guide to CS2 wear levels has the float ranges.

How to Get an Expensive M4A4

Most expensive M4A4 skins do not drop from a case. The Howl cannot drop at all, and for the Poseidon, The Coalition, the Modern Hunter and the Daybreak SkinsMonkey lists no case or package. Trade-up contracts can give you a skin from the collection of the skins you put in, but not the Howl and not a specific wear, and our CS2 trade-up guide explains how they work. The Buzz Kill, Hellfire, Emperor and Asiimov still drop from their cases, and our list of the best CS2 cases to open shows what each case holds.

The Steam Community Market is not practical for a Howl, because Valve limits how much a Steam Wallet can hold and the limit is below its price. Trading is the practical way to get one specific M4A4 in one specific wear. On SkinsMonkey you log in through Steam, add skins from your inventory, pick the M4A4 and the bot sends the trade offer, and you can check the float of each copy before you trade. If you want to know what your inventory is worth first, our CS2 Inventory Value Checker shows it in about a minute.

Bottom line

The Howl is the most expensive M4A4 by far, The Coalition is the most expensive Covert

The most expensive M4A4 skin in CS2 is the Howl, at $9,780.17 in Factory New on SkinsMonkey on November 4, 2026, and no new copy can drop. Below it, the most expensive M4A4 skins are collection skins with no case, such as the Poseidon at $1,811.03 and The Coalition at $1,277.22.

StatTrak copies of the expensive skins cost about twice a normal copy, and Souvenir copies up to almost four times. If you buy for how the skin looks, Minimal Wear or Field-Tested saves most of the money, above all on skins with a float range from 0.06 to 0.80.
