Steam sale dates for the rest of 2026 are fixed: the Steam Winter Sale 2026 runs from December 17, 2026 to January 4, 2027 and starts at 10 AM Pacific, which is 19:00 CET. Before that, the only Steam event left this year is the Auto-Battler RPG Fest from November 16 to 23. Valve has also published the 2027 dates of the Spring Sale (March 18 to 25), the Summer Sale (June 24 to July 8) and two Next Fests. Below you get every date with its start time in CET, the 2026 sales that already ended, and what a Steam sale means for your CS2 skins. The dates come from Valve’s Steamworks documentation for developers and from Steam’s own news posts, checked on November 5, 2026.
CS2 is free to play, so for most CS2 players the sale itself is about other games. The part that touches your inventory happens on the Steam Community Market, where many players sell skins to get Steam Wallet money for those games. If you only want to swap one skin for another, you can do that on SkinsMonkey any day of the year, with no Wallet step in between.
When Is the Next Steam Sale? Winter Sale 2026 Starts December 17
The next seasonal Steam sale is the Winter Sale 2026. Valve’s Steamworks page for the event gives the dates as December 17, 2026 to January 4, 2027, at 10 AM Pacific. That is 18 days of discounts, from a Thursday to a Monday. The same page says the Winter Sale is also when players vote in the 2026 Steam Awards.
The clocks have already changed on both sides of the Atlantic. The US left daylight saving time on November 1, 2026 and Europe on October 25, so Central Europe is the usual 9 hours ahead of Pacific time. The sale opens and closes at 19:00 CET.
| Time zone | Starts Dec 17, 2026 | Ends Jan 4, 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Pacific (Los Angeles) | 10:00 | 10:00 |
| Eastern (New York) | 13:00 | 13:00 |
| São Paulo | 15:00 | 15:00 |
| UTC | 18:00 | 18:00 |
| CET (Berlin, Paris, Madrid, Warsaw) | 19:00 | 19:00 |
| Istanbul and Moscow | 21:00 | 21:00 |
Before the Winter Sale there is one smaller event, the Auto-Battler RPG Fest from November 16 to 23, 2026. A fest is a themed week for one kind of game, so only games of that theme get the extra spot on the Steam front page.
Steam Sale Dates 2026 and 2027: the Full Calendar
The table lists every Steam event Valve has published from today until summer 2027, plus the big dates Valve has not announced yet. Rows marked Confirmed come from Valve’s Steamworks documentation. Rows marked Expected are our estimate from the dates of past years, and they can change.

| Steam Next Fest | October 2027 | Free demos | Expected |
| Steam Winter Sale 2027 | Second half of December 2027 | Seasonal sale | Expected |
The four seasonal sales are the big ones: Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn. Valve says any game released at least 30 days before the start can join them with a discount, so almost the whole store goes on sale. Next Fest is a week of free demos of games that are not out yet. Nothing is discounted there, but people often search for it together with the sales.
Steam events start and end at 10 AM Pacific. Valve states that time for the Winter Sale 2026, and every 2026 sale announcement on Steam went up shortly after that hour. If Valve keeps it, the Spring Sale 2027 opens at 18:00 CET on March 18, one hour earlier than usual for Europe. The US moves its clocks on March 14, 2027 and Europe only on March 28, so for two weeks the difference is 8 hours. The Summer Sale 2027 would open at 19:00 CEST on June 24.
Our expected dates have simple reasons. Valve lists the Autumn Sale 2027 as TBD. In 2025 it moved the Autumn Sale from its old place near the end of November to September 29, calling it “two months ahead of schedule”, and in 2026 the sale ran from October 1 to 8. Valve also says it hosts Next Fest three times a year, in February, June and October. The Winter Sale started on December 18 in 2025 and starts on December 17 in 2026.
The Steam Sales of 2026 That Already Ended
Most of the 2026 calendar is behind us. Every date below comes from the announcement Steam posted on the day the event started.
- Jan 5, 2026 Winter Sale 2025 ends. It began on Dec 18, 2025.
- Mar 19, 2026 Spring Sale starts and runs until Mar 26.
- Jun 25, 2026 Summer Sale starts and runs until Jul 9.
- Oct 1, 2026 Autumn Sale starts and runs until Oct 8.
- Oct 19, 2026 October Next Fest starts and runs until Oct 26.
Three more events fill the gaps. The June Next Fest ran from June 15 to 22, 2026, and Steam Scream Fest, the Halloween week, ran from October 26 to November 2. The February Next Fest was set for February 23 to March 2, 2026 in the schedule Valve published in August 2025. We found no Steam news post from its first day, so that one is the only date in this section we could not check against Steam itself.
The 2026 calendar followed a clear pattern. Each seasonal sale lasted one week, except the Summer and Winter Sales, which lasted two weeks or a bit more. Between them Valve ran a themed fest about every two weeks.
What a Steam Sale Means for Your CS2 Skins
When you sell a skin on the Steam Community Market, the money goes to your Steam Wallet. You cannot withdraw it to a bank account or PayPal. You can spend it only on Steam, on games, on other Market items and on in-game purchases. This is the link between Steam sales and skin prices. A player who wants a few discounted games can sell some skins and pay with the Wallet money.
Players report that Market prices of common skins often go down a little during the big seasonal sales, because many people list skins in the same days. That comes from what players have noticed over several sales, and Valve promises nothing about it. We have not measured it ourselves, the effect differs from skin to skin, and a new case, an update or a Major in the same week can move prices the other way.
Selling on the Market also costs 15% of the price. Valve takes a 5% Steam Transaction Fee, and Counter-Strike adds a 10% fee for the game. The buyer pays the price with both fees in it.
| Buyer pays | Steam fee (5%) | CS2 fee (10%) | You receive |
|---|---|---|---|
| $10.00 | $0.43 | $0.87 | $8.70 in Steam Wallet funds |
One more rule applies since July 15, 2025. A CS2 item you receive in a trade is Trade Protected for 7 days. Valve says these items “cannot be consumed, modified, or transferred” in that time, and a trade from those 7 days can be reversed. If you plan to sell a skin you just traded for, check its date first. It may still be locked when the discount on your game ends.
Is the Steam Market Cheaper During Steam Sales?
Sometimes, for buyers of common skins. When more sellers offer the same skin, the cheapest offer can go down. If you already have Wallet money and want to buy a cheap skin with it, the sale weeks are a reasonable time to compare prices.
Two things limit the benefit. The 15% fee is part of every Market price, in sales and outside them. And if you later sell that skin on the Market again, you get Wallet money back, which stays on Steam. For knives, gloves and other rare skins, fewer owners need quick Wallet money, so we would not count on a sale price there.
Steam Sale Scams: Fake Sale Pages, Gift Requests and Award Votes
Scammers like the big sale weeks, because many players click sale links in those days. The five tricks below all use the sale as the excuse.
- Fake sale pages. A link in Discord, a comment or a DM promises a free game or an extra discount and opens a page that looks like the Steam store. Then it asks you to sign in. The real store is store.steampowered.com and the Market is on steamcommunity.com. Check the address before you type a password.
- Gift requests. Someone asks you to buy them a game as a gift and promises to pay you back in skins, or offers a knife for a Steam gift card. Once the gift or the code is sent, you cannot take it back. Never pay first for a promise.
- “Vote for me” links. The Steam Awards voting runs during the Winter Sale, and fake voting pages for teams or tournaments ask you to log in. Voting on Steam happens inside Steam and needs no login on another site.
- Fake Valve staff. A message says your account will be banned unless you verify your items. Valve employees do not contact you through Steam chat or Discord.
- Stolen API keys. A fake login page can create a Steam Web API key on your account and use it to redirect your trades. Check steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey and revoke any key you did not create.
If someone takes over your account and trades your skins away, Trade Protection lets you reverse the CS2 trades of the last 7 days from the Trade History page of your Steam account. Our guide on how to avoid CS2 scams covers the other common tricks and what to do after a scam.
Skip the Wallet Step: Trade Skins for Skins
If what you want is another skin and not a game, you do not need the Market or the Wallet at all. On SkinsMonkey you put your skins on one side and the skins you want on the other, and one of our bots sends the trade offer to your Steam account. There is no Steam Market fee in that trade. Our own 10% fee is included in the item value you see before you accept. The difference between bot trades and peer-to-peer markets is explained in bot trading vs P2P marketplaces.
You cannot pay on SkinsMonkey with Steam Wallet money, because Valve keeps Wallet funds inside Steam. To add money to a trade, you deposit with a card, PayPal, one of several local payment methods or crypto. Deposits get a 30% deposit bonus, or 35% with a creator’s code. New users can enter the code MONKEY once to get 5% of the trade value back, up to $5. The full list of deposit methods is in how SkinsMonkey works.
Before you sell anything for a sale, check what your skins are worth with the free CS2 Inventory Value Checker. It prices each skin by wear and by StatTrak or Souvenir, but it does not price stickers, float or pattern, and items without a price count as $0. Our post on how to check the value of your Steam account shows how to read the result. If you need real money and not Wallet funds, our sister service SkinCashier buys CS2 skins for cash. Like every cash service, it pays after the 7 days of Trade Protection end.
Three of the skins players trade for most often are the AK-47 | Redline, the AWP | Asiimov and the M4A1-S | Printstream. You can check their prices below before you decide between a Market sale and a trade.
Popular skins to trade for instead of selling
Bottom line
Sell skins for Wallet money only when you want games, and trade skin for skin when you want another skin.
The Winter Sale 2026 starts on December 17 at 19:00 CET and runs until January 4, 2027. If you plan to sell skins on the Steam Market to pay for games, check the 7-day Trade Protection on anything you traded for recently, and count on 15% of the price going to fees.
If you want a different skin, the Market is the long way, because you pay the fee and your money stays in the Wallet. A direct trade on SkinsMonkey swaps skin for skin, with the 10% fee included in the item value you see. Players report that common skins can get cheaper during big sales, but nobody can promise a price move.
FAQ
When is the next Steam sale?
The next seasonal Steam sale is the Winter Sale 2026, from December 17, 2026 to January 4, 2027, starting at 10 AM Pacific (19:00 CET). Before it, Steam runs the Auto-Battler RPG Fest from November 16 to 23, 2026. After the Winter Sale, the next seasonal sale is the Spring Sale from March 18 to 25, 2027.
When does the Steam Winter Sale 2026 start?
It starts on December 17, 2026 at 10 AM Pacific time, which is 18:00 UTC and 19:00 CET. It ends on January 4, 2027 at the same time. Valve published these dates in its Steamworks documentation for developers.
Do CS2 skin prices drop during Steam sales?
Sometimes, for common skins, according to what players report. During big sales many players sell skins on the Steam Community Market for Wallet money, and when more skins are for sale, the lowest prices can go down. It is not a rule, and a new case, an update or a Major in the same week can move prices the other way.
Can I use Steam Wallet money from selling skins on SkinsMonkey?
No. Steam Wallet funds stay inside Steam and cannot be sent to other sites. On SkinsMonkey you can trade your skins directly for other skins, or deposit with a card, PayPal, local payment methods or crypto. Deposits get a 30% deposit bonus, or 35% with a creator's code.
Is the Steam Market cheaper during Steam sales?
It can be for common skins, but there is no guarantee. Every Market price includes a 15% fee, 5% for Steam and 10% for Counter-Strike, and the money you get when you sell is Wallet money that you can spend only on Steam. Compare the Market price with a direct skin-for-skin trade before you buy.
