Knives are the only melee weapon in CS2 (CSGO), i.e. a weapon used during hand-to-hand combat. They are known for being very expensive and having cool animations. A knife is given to each player by default, except when in the Danger Zone, which is a battle royal mode added to** Counter Strike: Global Offensive** back in 2018. They permanently occupy the melee weapon slot and cannot be dropped or purchased.

Knives in Combat

Knives are short-range weapons that provide two firing modes, STAB and SLASH. They are characterized by a fast, low-damage primary attack and a slow, high-damage secondary attack. (with the rates of fire being 0,4s and 1 s, respectively). Their advantage is their quietness, making them very helpful in missions that require sneak attacks. Knives are also very light, therefore, they do not affect the player’s movement speed and can prove useful in situations that require a rapid escape.

Cosmetic Knives

Cosmetic knives are an alternative to the hand weapon players receive by default. They are all purchasable, except for the Gold Knife and Spectral Shiv. The prices of knives in CSGO reach extremely high values, due to the fact that the vast majority of them are rare special items. Their drop probability is very low. It is also worth noting, that knives cannot be used for CS2 (CSGO) Trade Up contracts.
