Knives are the basic melee weapon in Counter Strike. They are available to both Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists. The Bowie Knife is one of the many cosmetic knives in the series. It was first introduced in 2016 alongside the Operation Wildfire update. The CS version was inspired by a real knife of the same name, which was designed in the 19th century for Jim Bowie, an American pioneer and trader. He became known for using a large knife during the infamous duel, the Sandbar Fight, and played an important role in the Texas Revolution.
Since the Bowie Knife is a cosmetic knife, it has the same features as the default knife. It enables two firing modes: STAB and SLASH. The main advantage is its ability to produce little noise, which is useful for sneak attacks. On top of that, the Bowie Knife is extremely light, and therefore, it does not slow the player down. This can prove crucial if a sudden escape is necessary. Knives also come in handy when the player is running low on ammo.
All cosmetic knives are extremely rare in-game items, which has a direct impact on two factors. First, it makes their range of skins very impressive as they often feature extraordinary designs and unique color schemes. Second, it raises their price significantly and unfortunately, the Bowie Knives are no exception. However, it is possible to find some relatively more budget-friendly options. The cheapest Bowie Knife skin is the Safari Mesh from the Operation Wildfire case. Its price usually varies between $65 and $75. The most expensive skin is the Fade, with its Factory New version going for up to $255 on the Steam Market.
