Every skin page in the CS2 Skins Wiki carries six data points: price at each of the five wear levels, the skin’s float range, rarity tier, weapon type, release date and the cases that drop it.
CS2 has 7 rarity tiers - Consumer Grade, Industrial Grade, Mil-Spec, Restricted, Classified, Covert and Contraband - plus the gold ★ Extraordinary tier that covers all knives and gloves.
| Rarity tier | Colour | Drop chance from a standard case | Example skin |
|---|---|---|---|
| Consumer Grade | White | not in cases | Tec-9 | Bamboo Forest |
| Industrial Grade | Light blue | not in cases | AWP | Sun in Leo |
| Mil-Spec | Blue | 79.92% | USP-S | Silent Shot |
| Restricted | Purple | 15.98% | Desert Eagle | Blaze |
| Classified | Pink | 3.20% | R8 Revolver | Amber Fade |
| Covert | Red | 0.64% | AK-47 | Case Hardened |
| ★ Extraordinary (knives, gloves) | Gold | 0.26% | Karambit | Case Hardened |
| Contraband | Orange | not obtainable | M4A4 | Howl |
Rarity is a guide to price, not a guarantee: float, pattern index and market demand can still move a CS2 skin well outside its tier’s usual range.
Contraband is the rarest tier in CS2, and the only skin ever placed in it is the M4A4 | Howl. Valve pulled it from the drop pool in 2014 after a copyright dispute over its artwork. No new Howls enter circulation and new copies can only be obtained through trade, so supply can only shrink over time.
The gold ★ Extraordinary tier covers all knives and gloves in CS2, separating them from the colour-coded rarity tiers used for weapon skins. Both gloves and knives have the same rarity slot in cases.
Float is a number from 0.00 to 1.00 that fixes a skin’s wear on five levels: Factory New 0.00–0.07, Minimal Wear 0.07–0.15, Field-Tested 0.15–0.38, Well-Worn 0.38–0.45 and Battle-Scarred 0.45–1.00.
| Wear level | Float range | What it looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Factory New | 0.00 – 0.07 | no visible wear, colour and design perfectly visible |
| Minimal Wear | 0.07 – 0.15 | light scratches on edges, some paint might be chipped |
| Field-Tested | 0.15 – 0.38 | visible scratches across the body |
| Well-Worn | 0.38 – 0.45 | heavy fading, pattern partly lost |
| Battle-Scarred | 0.45 – 1.00 | deep wear, colours washed out, designs barely visible |
Every skin’s pattern index (seed) also affects how it looks at a given float, so two skins at the same float can look different depending on their individual pattern.
No, each finish has its own float range set by the developers. The AWP | Dragon Lore runs 0.00–0.70, so it never appears above that value, while the AWP | Asiimov is capped even further, only existing in Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred.
Floats above 0.95 are less common than middle values, and traders are willing to pay a lot for both extremes - the lowest floats in Factory New and the highest in Battle-Scarred. A float gets assigned to a skin upon opening and can’t change over time.
The pattern index (or seed) is a number that decides where the finish texture lands on the weapon model. A Case Hardened skin has 1,000 possible seeds, and the high-blue “blue gem” seeds trade at 10–100× the price of an ordinary seed of the same skin at the same float.
A blue gem is a Case Hardened pattern with unusually high blue coverage on the weapon’s visible faces. These seeds are the most sought-after in the Case Hardened family, and some of the rarest and most expensive CS2 skins. Some of the rarest patterns include AK-47 | Case Hardened #661 and Karambit | Case Hardened #387, both worth extraordinary amounts of money.
Prices in the CS2 Skins Wiki range from $0.05 to $49,000, as of September 2026. Keep in mind that the CS2 skins market is in a constant state of fluctuation, so prices listed are subject to change.
The most expensive CS2 skins are generally the Case Hardened knives and rifles with rare blue patterns. An AK-47 | Case Hardened pattern #661 in StatTrak Factory New sold for over $1,000,000 in June 2024, and Souvenir AWP | Dragon Lore rifles with rare Katowice 2014 sticker crafts have sold for over $150,000. The unique Factory New Karambit | Case Hardened #387, the only copy of its kind, has drawn offers as high as $1,500,000, though its owner still claims that the bidder was trying to lowball them.
The highest price tags result from a combination of demand and scarcity: uncommon pattern seeds, such as blue gems, have a fixed, non-renewable supply, tiers like Contraband and Covert have low or nil drop possibilities, and certain cases have been completely withdrawn from the game. On top of an already uncommon base skin, tournament-stamped stickers and StatTrak counters add even more rarity. All of this is sold on a market that many gamers view as a collecting category rather than a straightforward cosmetic buy, which plays its role in driving up the price even further.
The CS2 Skins Wiki splits into 14 categories: 7 weapon types and 7 item types.

Skins are also grouped by colour, such as red, blue, green, pink, white, black and more, for browsing by finish rather than by weapon or category.
A CS2 match loadout holds 15 weapon slots split into 3 groups: 5 pistols, 5 mid-tier weapons (SMGs and heavy weapons) and 5 rifles. Each slot can carry its own skin, so a full loadout is made up of several separate purchase or trade decisions rather than one. A complete loadout also includes a knife and gloves outside these 15 slots, which are consistently the most expensive and most personalized pieces of the loadout.
At the SkinsMonkey CS2 Wiki you can compare different weapon skins for each slot side by side, check their prices at every wear level, see which cases drop each skin, and more.
