Let’s now dive in deep and look at what news we can find in the CS2 October 1st update:

New CS2 weapon charms

One of the biggest changes added to CS2 were the completely new type of cosmetic upgrades players could add to their weapons, in the form of CS2 weapon charms. These charms can be attached to any weapon in the game, and are a fully modelled part of the weapon, which will dangle when you swing it around. CS2 weapon charms can be combined with weapon skins, to create new and awesome visuals.

The latest update added two new charm collections to the game: Dr. Boom Charms, inspired by the various CS2 grenades available in the game, as well as new Missing Link community charms, expanding the already existing charm collections.

New CS2 community stickers

While the CS2 charms are a relatively new addition to the game, introduced only in CS2, stickers have been available for years, and many gamers buy, sell and trade CS2 stickers every day. Just like their skin counterparts, the most expensive CS2 stickers can easily cost thousands of dollars, and are some of the rarest collectibles available.

Ever since the CS2 sticker update was added to the game, players have even more choice in their customization options, and players can create brand new graphic designs using their stickers of choice. This increased the demand for skins even more, and ever since Valve continued to add more awesome stickers to the game.

The CS2 October 1st update added a whole bunch of new CS2 stickers created by the CS2 community in the workshop. These stickers are available in the CS2 Armory, where players redeem them with Armory Credits earned through an Armory Pass.

The full list of new CS2 stickers added in the update includes:

New community maps

CS2 competitive mode features a selection of maps for players to choose from, referred to as the active duty map pool. These maps are carefully selected to create a balanced competitive environment, where players can test their skills and advance in the CS2 ranks.

In order to make the ranked mode more engaging, Valve switches up the active duty map pool from time to time, giving competitive players a fresh selection of maps to duke it out on.

This time around, Valve has introduced four brand-new maps to the game, two for the competitive, casual, and deathmatch modes, and two for the CS2 Wingman mode. Golden and Palacio are now available for competitive mode, while Rooftop and Transit can now be enjoyed in the 2v2 Wingman mode. All four are community maps; the update did not change the Active Duty pool used in Premier, and it removed Jura, Grail, Dogtown and Brewery from all game modes.

Improved spectator cam

One of the small yet significant changes added to the game is the new spectator cam features. The new CS2 update brings smoother camera transitions on select maps, letting spectators follow targets along the shortest paths for a more natural viewing experience. It also streamlines gameplay visibility by automatically closing spectated player loadouts at the end of each match, keeping the focus sharp and uncluttered during post-game moments.

On top of that, the new CS2 update adds extra cosmetic flair to broadcasts and demos by showing glove wear and patterns in spectator mode. This not only highlights the unique value of CS2 skins but also makes competitive viewing more immersive for both casual fans and skin collectors.

Technical fixes

Last but not least, the latest update introduced a number of much-needed tweaks and fixes to the game. Some of the most important ones include:

  • MAC-10 and R8 Revolver received minor skinning adjustments
  • Issues with game crashing due to missing bullet impact effects have been fixed
  • Map scripting improvements, creating smoother gameplay, and giving workshop creators more freedom regarding map creation
  • Limited the Zeus x27 kill streak bonus in Deathmatch
  • Inaccuracy representation added to CS2 sniper scopes, creating a more realistic feedback
  • Charms now slightly jolt when a player makes an audible footstep

Summing up

As you can see, the October 1st CS2 update has been one of the biggest in a long time now, offering a huge selection of new features for players to try out. While we still need to wait and see how these changes impact CS2 gameplay, one thing is certain: we can definitely see more changes and fixes awaiting us in the future.
