Someone rebuilt Counter-Strike 2 inside Roblox, and side by side with the real game it is hard to tell the two apart. The game is called Project CS. This post explains what it is, what it copies from CS2, what works worse, why most players cannot join it any more, whether it is legal, and what it means for your CS2 skins. The facts come from esportnow.gg (October 30, 2026) and cybersport.ru (October 28, 2026), and the prices from SkinsMonkey on November 2, 2026.
Our opinion is simple: Project CS looks like real CS2 because it is built from CS2 files converted for Roblox. That is what makes the clips impressive, and it is also the reason we do not expect it to stay public for long. Your own CS2 skins stay where they are, on Steam, and you can still trade them on SkinsMonkey.
We put Project CS and real CS2 side by side on our TikTok, and that clip went viral. This post is the longer version:
Our side-by-side clip: Project CS in Roblox vs real CS2.
Project CS Copies CS2 Down to the Mirage Bombsites and the C4 Keypad
Project CS is a free Roblox game made by a creator called Acetul, who is linked to the Roblox group TAKEOFF INTERACTIVE. Its description calls it a non-commercial passion project to test the Roblox engine, not connected to Valve. It started to get attention around October 27, 2026, after content creator KreekCraft and an X post by bubblx showed it to a bigger audience. According to esportnow.gg, visits climbed past several hundred thousand.
The models, textures, animations, weapons, sounds and maps are reported to come from CS2 itself. This is what players saw in the game:
- Mirage with the same bombsites, the same layout and very similar lighting. If you know the Mirage callouts, they all work here.
- Weapons in first-person view: knives, the AK-47 and the AWP.
- The C4, planted by typing the code on the keypad, as in CS2.
- Player models with gas masks and tactical gear.
- A HUD with money, health and ammo in the usual places.
- Movement that players describe as very close to CS2.
Nothing in this list was designed for Roblox, and that is why the clips look so close to CS2. Project CS has no skins, so every gun in it is the default one. If the clips got you back into CS2, a fresh look is one trade away:

Where the Roblox Version of CS2 Falls Short
Up close, the copy has limits. Some sounds are off, and players who know CS2 by ear notice it quickly. Smoke grenades and lighting look less polished, which esportnow.gg puts down to the limits of the Roblox engine. Netcode, performance and anti-cheat are Roblox systems, so they do not work like CS2 either.
Project CS runs in the normal Roblox app on PC, mobile, Xbox and PlayStation. Console support is experimental and comes with aim assist on a controller, which would start a long argument in any CS2 lobby. Voice chat is not supported. In a short clip it looks like CS2, but the reports above show where the Roblox engine still shows through.
Can You Play Project CS? It Went Group-Only After the Hype
Most players cannot. After the game went viral, the creator appears to have made it group-only. According to cybersport.ru, the developer said they were closing access so they would not lose their “dream project”. We understand that. Less attention means less chance of a takedown.
We will not explain how to get in or around the restriction, because the creator closed it on purpose. The two Roblox games further down are public and made with their own assets.
Is Project CS Legal? Notoriety and the Left 4 Dead 2 Copy Say No
This is our reading of the situation, not legal advice. esportnow.gg answers the question with “almost certainly not”, and we agree. Copyright protects a game even when the copy is free. A disclaimer that says “fan project, not affiliated with Valve” does not give anyone permission to use Valve’s files. Roblox has its own rules against content that uses someone else’s intellectual property without a license. As of October 30, 2026, no takedown or statement from Valve had been reported.
Roblox has already seen how this can end. Notoriety, a heist game in the style of Payday, was removed from Roblox on September 23, 2023 after a DMCA takedown from Starbreeze, two days before Payday 3 came out. Then Starbreeze signed a licensing deal, and the game came back on December 16, 2024 as Notoriety: A Payday Experience, with official Payday assets. A Roblox copy of Left 4 Dead 2, another Valve game, had already been blocked, according to cybersport.ru.
So there are two possible endings: the copy disappears, or the owner of the game licenses it. For a project built from CS2 files, we think the first one is much more likely.
Arsenal and Counter Blox: Roblox Shooters That Play Like CS Legally
Roblox has had CS-style shooters with their own models and maps since 2015. Two of them have been online for years:
- Counter Blox. It first appeared in September 2015, made by the ROLVe group, and later moved to a Roblox group of its own. Two teams play rounds and buy weapons at the start of each round, as in Counter-Strike. It uses original Roblox-style assets, and esportnow.gg counts over 1.2 billion visits.
- Arsenal. Also by ROLVe, released in 2015. A critic at Entertainment Focus compared it to CS:GO. In June 2020 it became the first first-person shooter on Roblox to reach 1 billion visits.
Neither one looks like a CS2 screenshot, and that is why they are still online. If the clips made you want CS on Roblox, start with Counter Blox.
What a Roblox CS2 Means for Your CS2 Skins and Trading
For your inventory, nothing changes. A Roblox game has no connection to your Steam account, so your CS2 skins cannot appear in Project CS, and nothing you do there can change their value. Project CS has no skins, no cases, no trade-ups and no market. Your skins live on Steam and have value only in CS2.
If all this talk about CS2 changes made you want a change in your own game, the easiest way is to swap a boring inventory with us. Three popular picks: the AK-47 | Redline and the AWP | Asiimov both come from the Operation Phoenix Weapon Case, and the Karambit | Fade is one of the best-known knives in the game. Our guide to CS2 wear levels explains the price differences between wears, and the best CS2 knives list compares the Karambit with other knives. SkinsMonkey does not pay out cash. If you want money for your skins, use SkinCashier, our sister service.
Bottom line
Enjoy the clips, but play Counter Blox or real CS2, because a CS2 copy built from Valve files will not stay public
Project CS shows how close Roblox can get to CS2 when someone uses the original files, and that is also its problem. It is already group-only, and Notoriety shows that a copy can be removed and only come back with a license.
If you want CS on Roblox, Counter Blox has been online since 2015 with its own assets. Your CS2 skins are not affected in any way: they stay on Steam, and you can check their value and trade them on SkinsMonkey.
FAQ
Is there CS2 on Roblox?
Not officially. Valve has not released Counter-Strike 2 on Roblox. Project CS is an unofficial fan copy made by a creator called Acetul, and Counter Blox and Arsenal are older Roblox shooters inspired by Counter-Strike, made with their own assets.
What is the Roblox game that looks like CS2 called?
It is called Project CS. It went viral around October 27, 2026, with Mirage, the AK-47, the AWP and the C4 keypad that look almost the same as in CS2, because the models and maps are reported to come from CS2 itself.
Is Project CS free?
Yes, the game is free on Roblox and its description says it is non-commercial. After it went viral, the creator reportedly made it group-only, so most players cannot join it. Being free does not make it legal, because copyright protects a game even when a copy costs nothing.
Can I use my CS2 skins in Roblox?
No. Roblox games have no connection to your Steam inventory, so your CS2 skins cannot be used in Project CS or any other Roblox game. Your skins stay on Steam and keep their value only in CS2.
